Large-print labels for select exhibitions are available at the front desk in the Museum’s Greenbaum Lobby, and at select locations within the galleries. Large-print electronic format (rich-text format) labels for select exhibitions are available via email and may be requested at the guest services desk in the main entrance, located in Greenbaum Lobby. If guests wish to receive electronic content, they must provide their own Wi-Fi accessible electronic device formatted to receive and read electronic content. The use of magnifying glasses are approved for reading gallery wall labels.
Service animals are welcomed in the Museum in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Service animals are limited to dogs and miniature horses that have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. The rule states that all other animals, whether wild or domestic, do not qualify as service animals. Dogs that are therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, or comfort/companion dogs are not considered service animals under ADA and will not be permitted in Phoenix Art Museum.
Per ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents use of these devices. In those instances, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
Service animals are the responsibility of the owner and cannot be left unattended at any time, for any reason. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their service animals and for controlling their service animals’ behavior. If, at any time, a service animal’s behavior becomes a threat to the safety and well-being of other Museum guests or staff, the owner will be asked to leave the premises without refund of admission.
Assistive listening devices are available by request on a first-come, first-served basis for programming facilitated in Whiteman Hall. Patrons desiring a listening-device headset may check one out at the projector booth located in the lecture hall up to 15 minutes prior to the start of the event.
